SKG Asare Foundation

The organisation facilitates women to amplify their voices for security and well-being.

SKG Asare Foundation started in 2011 – 2012 with a family counselling centre to address the women’s issues in different spheres of life. In 2012 it expanded with initiation of a day care centre for differently abled children providing help with daily activities such as food, bath as well as support for parents in psycho social and economic areas. In 2015 the organization wound up with the day care activities due to unfortunate situations and full-fledged started with IC activities across different working sectors, and addresses the gender issues of working women as a whole. At present the NGO has expanded its activities helping women for livlihood activities. Counselling, trainings and empowerment of women through developing skills (life skill, behaviour enhancement, basic counselling etc) have become a regular activity for the organization.

Our Activities

Summer camp - 2022

06-May-22

With the fluctuating pandemic situation and one of the most hit populations being the kids for the past 2 years, SKG Asare Foundation joined hands with two efficient volunteers to plan organize and execute a summer camp for a group of children around the Mugalur village in Sarjapur Hobli. The key aim of the camp was framed to enhance the basic few life skills of the young minds along with some fun hands-on science and math concepts. The camp aimed at imparting life skills such as self-awareness, coping with emotions, effective communication, interpersonal skills, creative thinking and decision making. The life skills were planned to be activity based with an objective of reaching the kids more efficiently. Along with the life skills, science concepts such as reflection and electricity were planned to be executed. The day camp was held across 3 at the Endeavours International School in Mugalur from 9:00AM to 3:30 PM. The camp registered a total of 48 children across the age of 8 and 15.

Skill Training for trainers

Some of the staff at SKG Asare Foundation learn the art of making eco friendly products (paper bags, cake bags, gift bags, photo frames, jewellery box, pen stand etc) through workshops, with an idea of helping to create a skilled work opportunity for some other women beneficiaries who may be skilled and interested to become young entrepreneurs or use their skills for a livelihood through the art of making eco friendly products that are seen as the future for a protected planet that we live in!

Training cum workshop on prevention of sexual harassment at work place

After the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 was implemented in India, many work stations across different sectors are gaining the interest and understanding the necessity to implement the prescriptions of this law. In this regard, setting up of Internal Committees and the details of the functioning of the committees as well as the rights of each employee in terms of sexual harassments at work places is gaining importance through regular trainings, awareness sessions, meetings and workshops. SKG Asare Foundation actively conducts such sessions using different methodologies to get information across to working women across various sectors.

Training for supervisors – STARS programme (Staff Turning Accountable and Responsible for Success

As an emerging need for changes required in the staff/supervisory level of employees in terms of their behaviour and the way they relate with their subordinates, an initiative to have a wholistic behavioural realization and modification had been identified. Hence, with support from the American Eagle brand, SKG Asare Foundation came up with a project plan along with Texport Overseas Limited to pilot the same in one of the factory units. This programme aims to sensitize the beneficiaries on gender, interpersonal relationships, positive reinforcement and certain other closely related subjects. The programme has been initiated and is ongoing.

Helping in the fight against COVID19 pandemic

SKG Asare Foundation during the first COVID pandemic, along with some sponsored help received from CV Global, extended support with finance (in terms of food and medicine) to some extremely downtrodden families who have lost their job and any form of income due to the pandemic. Counsellimg services

Counselling is an integral part of Asare's work for the people in need. The organization utilizes the skills of its counsellors to reach out to women across different sectors to be able to enable themselves to lead better personal as well as professional lives. A Special programme offered during the pandemic in terms of virtual counselling sessions has been initiated by Asare Foundation, to help enable individuals to ease down the anxiety situations that is being instilled in their minds as a result of incidents happening around them as well as media imprints. The need to handle such a situation with a calm mind has been identified especially for those who go for work outside their homes in order to sustain their livelihood. The loss of near and dear ones has also put a stressful impact on the lives of many individuals. A balanced mind during such a situation is the need of the hour in order to ease the environment at workplaces as well as at homes.

Extended sponsor for women empowerment activities

SKG Asare Foundation, along with the regular empowerment support for women, had facilitated and sponsored some events for women in rural Bangalore (Mugalur village), in terms of women of different age groups being able to express their hidden and often un-noticed talents in dance and games. Solo dance, group dance, throw ball and tug of war were the events supported by SKG Asare Foundation. These events saw the energy and interest of women across different age groups to be able to express themselves when a platform of opportunity is laid open for them.

Prevention of sexual harassment at workplace – Training and meetings

SKG Asare Foundation conducts these training and awareness programs on prevention of sexual harassment at workplaces regularly since 2015. This gives them an opportunity to make women working in multinational companies, garment industries (where a majority of the work force is women) and other places of work are aware of the ethics that need to be followed by all employees and how every employee needs to behave and made aware of the professional atmosphere, and what facilities they can utilize in case they are faced with an issue of sexual harassment through their work place.

SKG Asare Foundation beliefs in overall growth and development for all genders, cultural and people from different occupations. They conduct awareness and training programs for the people from engineering field to give them awareness about certain social impacts on societies.
